The program enrolls students twice each trimester for the 222-hour program. This is a full-time program, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:00 pm. The courses are divided into two sessions. The first session consists of classroom instruction and the second session is driver training with a driving instructor in a manual shift truck. The program will take place at 323 Phipps Bend Road, Surgoinsville, TN, in a practice lot and on the streets and highways around the region.

Prior to orientation:

• Complete a TCAT Morristown online application at https://tcatmorristown.edu/future-students/admissions .
• Apply for financial aid at FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid if you choose. TCAT Morristown’s school code is 013891.

Program documentation requirements to bring to your orientation session:

• Must be 18 years of age & a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident (signed social security card).
• Must have a valid Tennessee driver’s License.
• Obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Learner Permit (Address on CDL Learner Permit and Tennessee driver’s license MUST match).
• Obtain DOT (Department of Transportation) physical (Certified Medical Exam) at your physician of choice.
• Obtain a copy of your Ten-Year Motor Vehicle Report. For a copy of the MVR visit: https://www.tn.gov/safety/driver-services/mvr.html or by going to the Driver Service Center.
• Register with Federal Motor Carrier by creating an account at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/
• All males born prior to 1960 must register or be exempt from the Selective Service System (SSS).   Please go to the SSS.gov website and verify that you have registered or there is an option to register if you are under the age of 26. 

After orientation:

• TCAT Morristown will issue a start date for enrollment in the class. 
• Within 30 days of class start date complete a drug screen at Tristar Physical Therapy or Ballad Health. TCAT Morristown will obtain test results from the approved C/TPA Consortium/Third Party Administrator. 
• You are subject to random drug screening while enrolled.
